Abstract

Pada aktivitas fisik submaksimal akan terjadi peningkatan metabolisme untuk penyediaan energi yang ditandai respon berupa meningkatnya kebutuhan oksigen. Peningkatan ini berpotensi meyebakan terbentuknya radikal bebas dalam tubuh. Pemberian asupan antioksidan berupa glutathion diharapkan dapat menurunkan efek radikal bebas dalam plasma darah. Merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan rancangan The Randomized Post Test Only Control Ggroup Design. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat pengaruh pemberian glutathion terhadap kadar MDA (malondialdehyde) plasma darah setelah latihan fisik submaksimal. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang bermakna terhadap kadar MDA plasma darah p= 0.0001 (p < 0.05) kelompok kontrol dengan kelompok perlakuan. Pada kondisi stress oksidatif, radikal bebas akan menyebabkan terjadinya peroksidasi lipid membran sel dan merusak organisasi membran sel. Pemberian glutathion pasca aktivitas fisik secara bermakna menurunkan kadar malondialdehyde plasma darah.
